You are probably wondering how the professionals at a beauty salon make your nails more beautiful. Getting gel nails looks easy but it does take some patience and skill. But of course, you can also do it yourself. You can develop that skill of making more gorgeous nails with the use of gel nail polish.

What are Gel Nails?

You have heard of them before but you could not quite figure out what they really are. This article could tell you more about Gel Nails. You want beautiful nails, don't you? Well, gel nails will give just that to you. Gel nails add glamour and beauty to those otherwise dull hands.

UV Gel Modeling

First file your natural nails in shape. If you want to use artificial tips, you should shorten your natural nails to 1mm length. (The edges of your nails should be filed into the shape of artificial tip you want use). Then buff, remove the shine until your nails are matte. Remove cuticle if necessary after applying cuticle remover to soften them and push the cuticle back with a cuticle pusher.

De-dust your fingernails with a dust brush or with a swab and nail cleaner.

If you are choosing artificial tips, take one which fits the best. (These tips should have a similar C-curve). Then apply a small amount of tip glue onto the inner surface of the nail tip.

Then gently press the nail tip in the right position onto the natural nail. Make sure there is no trapped-air! The tip glue will dry quickly; therefore it should be processed as soon as possible.

The nail tips should be cut into the desired length and should also be pre-shaped. Smooth the space between the natural nail and tip with a buffer. De-dust your fingernails with a dust brush or with a swab and nail cleaner again.

Now apply a primer/bonding agent ONLY on the natural nail! It increases the adhesion between UV gel and natural nails.

First apply IG base gel in a thin layer and cure it 120 seconds in the UV device.

A little advice: a right hander should work from right to left and vice versa.

Now apply enough IG builder gel on to the highest point where the artificial nail meets the natural nail (C-curve). It is important not to smear the UV gel instead slightly dab and let it spread itself to cover your nail.

The UV gel should not run into the nail groove and cuticle. Prevent this by using a rosewood stick before curing. Remove the residue (exudation) from the nails with a nail cleanser.

Smooth with a buffer, de-dust and use a nail cleaner. Now you are able to design your nails, for example French-look. Hereby we suggest applying 2-3 thin layers (so that the UV gel with color pigments can completely cure). Do not forget to wipe the residue (exudation)!

Now apply the IG sealing gel. After curing clean the nails again with nail cleaner. If necessary smooth the nails with a buffer.

When desired use nails art tools like piercing/charms or nail polish to give your nails the little extra!

How to Do Gel Nails You are probably wondering how the professionals at a beauty salon make your nails more beautiful. Getting gel nails looks easy but it does take some patience and skill. But of course, you can also do it yourself. You can develop that skill of making more gorgeous nails with the use of gel nail polish.

To have gel nails at home, you will need a gel nails kit. To hide the uneven edges and cracks on your brittle nails, you will need to pick up the glue and apply it on your natural nails. Next, apply a coat of gel on each nail, like the way you apply your regular nail polish. When you are done with that, dip the nail into the powder available in the gel nails kit. After a moment, apply another coating of the gel nail polish. Dip it again in the powder. Take the shaped gel nail tip, and add an adhesive drop onto the tip of your natural nail. By holding the gel nail at an angle of 45 degrees, slide it onto the adhesive then adjust it properly before it hardens. Keep holding the nail in place until it sticks to your natural nail completely. That is how you do gel nails at home.

When you do want to remove your gel nails, it is advisable to have a professional in a salon do it for you as the process is harder than applying it.

When you try to get gel nails, you might not want to go back to your old nail polish. Now that you know how to do gel nails yourself, you might want to do it again and again, in different designs.

You want beautiful nails, don't you? Well, gel nails will give just that to you. Gel nails add glamour and beauty to those otherwise dull hands. But what are gel nails exactly? Gel nails are artificial nails that, when applied over the original nails, give a natural look. No, they are not harmful in any way. Many quality gel nail polishes contain Vitamin E. They are extremely flexible and do not make your natural nails turn yellow.

What are Gel Nails Made Of These kinds of artificial nails are more or less similar to our natural nails when it comes to appearance and design. Here is a bit of a chemistry lesson regarding the ingredients of gel nail polish. They are made of polymer powder and monomer liquid. The reaction of both results in the formation of polymer strands which, upon drying, form a hard resin, bearing resemblance to finger nails. Gel nails also have material that allows the nails to be flexible, thus saving the gel nails from breaking.

Acrylic nail polish gives off that bad smell. The gel nail polish does not have that smell. It is actually odorless when applied and is safe, too. They will make your nails look shinier. Gel nails are more expensive and need to be polished more often, when compared to other forms of artificial nails. But being beautiful sometimes mean being willing to spend for what is needed and being willing to work for it. That is also the case in having beautiful nails.

Instructions

Choose a color. If you're just painting your nails for the night, it's nice to have them match your outfit. If you plan to have your nails painted for a long time, a simple French manicure is convenient.

Paint your entire nail the color of your choice and wait for it to dry. It's faster to use a quick-drying nail polish.

Choose another nail color that will match the first color. Place the nail brush on the bottom-left corner of your nail. In a quick, smooth motion, pull the brush diagonally to the right. The top half of your nail is now another color. Perfect the top of your nails by filling in any spots you didn't cover.
